Shifting Sands

Description : Influence:
Shifting Sands are a constant occurrence along the shoreline. The alternate rising and falling of the surface of the ocean and of water bodies such as bays and gulfs connected with the ocean occur twice daily resulting in differential gravitational forces which exert at different parts of the earth by the sun or moon.

When low tide occurs, the shoreline is awash of many interesting creatures, seaweed, algae etc. Sometimes little ridges form in the sand leaving little crevices forming interesting patterns. Ocean jewels can be discovered glistening in the daylight showing their beautiful rainbow of colour.

These six little sea gems, (each measuring 20cm x 20cm x 4.0cm) are my tribute to the shifting sands around my bay where I live. They look great together or why not separate them, they each have their own story to tell. They make great little gifts or even a gift for yourself and are small enough to sit on a side table or hang on a narrow wall.

Quality acrylics used giving long lasting rich pigmentation/lustre. Designed on acid free environmentally unbleached cotton duck, triple coated with universal primer, heavy duty stretcher bars were used to reduce warping. Protective Matte Varnish applied. Signed by the artist and ready to hang.
