I was drawn to being creative as a child and used to draw and paint pictures of towns and houses as a primary subject, but drifted away from art during my teenage years to being drawn back to art later in life.
I find life is a journey of exploration and enjoy the unknown to create in abstract.
Working to connect with colour combinations and textures on the surface, which is fed by the subconscious of my inner world. To capture a past memory or emotion from within or to take inspiration from nature. I rarely plan an exact work but allow the feelings and the energy of the process to guide me, which requires an element of surrender and trust.
Whether its the process of painting where i pour, dribble, brush and scrape paint to reveal hidden colours underneath or the sculptural works where i use recycled materials and nature, to help make colour patinas and flowing shapes. It is always about the energy within the making of the work.
