As an avid traveller and observer, there is an endless diversity of experiences, architecture, people and culture to draw inspiration from. Many of these occur in my own 'back yard' in Brighton, Melbourne, Australia where the ever changing seasons and energy of living bayside never ceases to inspire.
I’m compelled to paint brilliant colours and beautiful scenes, and am happiest when I can inject a sense of fun and romance. Capturing the life inside each moment of time is a compelling and constant challenge that I love exploring. Sharing my paintings with the art viewer is a real privilege.
Having studied under Melbourne artists, including a brief introduction to acrylics with Jennifer Webb and the wonderful Gail Barton who led me into the joys of oils, I am also blesed to have learned much from my very accomplished artist father, John Leeden. Am now predominantly "self directed", and continue to learn and experiment by participating in local art groups, exhibitions and workshops with reknowned local and overseas painters. The walls of my Brighton studio pop with the vivid colours of my latest additions Gallery247.
