I've been inspired to paint with watercolours since I was young because of it's translucency and the abiliy it has to create a glowing effect with the multiple layering of paint. Working also in multiple mediums, I find each one has its own unique and beautiful properties. I am passionate about nature with all the design elements and contours found there, and is a driving force for subject inspiration.
I first started sketching and painting portraits and nudes at The Royal Art Society, Adelaide and using pastels, oils or charcoal and spent a few years practicing and developing my skills.
Over my career I have been employed as an illustrator for the South Australian Museum - Education and Entomology Department, an art tutor, and have taken part in many art exhibitions, solo and group shows, and have received a numbe of commissions and awards.
Travelling in recent years has really helped me discover other cultures and ways of life and the beauty there in, which has enriched and helped inspire me for painting new work.
I was born in Adelaide, South Australia and attended a number of different art classes in groups and private tuition, including life drawing and portrait painting and completed a diploma in graphic design and illustration.
