FROM THE ARTIST
I am an abstract painter who enjoys working with acrylics. I love using bright colours and various textures in my work. I am always excited to discover the path that a painting will take as I explore the synergy of vibrant colours and textures. I like to work by letting the artwork talk to me as I concentrate on developing the parts if a painting I like. A juxtaposition of colours, an interesting texture, some wide expressive strokes can begin the creative process. I like to experiment with different techniques, materials and colours. I enjoy the experimental part of the process which is why the freedom of abstract is my favoured medium.
I use my garden for inspiration. Nature renews my creative spirit with an endless supply of colours, shapes and textures. I enjoy painting artworks with an abstract botanical element to them. I have a fascination for capturing the essence of still and beautiful places as I think they give us strength to face life’s challenges. I believe each painting has an energy that it brings to the space it occupies. That energy is transferred to the canvas from the emotion of the painter and the colours that are used. Tranquility and celebration are two emotional states I often paint in and I think that energy is transferred to the canvas. Most often I paint to celebrate life with bold colours or to create a soothing experience with softer colours. Painting is the most joyful activity I can imagine and I am thrilled to think I can share that feeling with you through my paintings.
