Description : Coming from the vast plains of the Riverina in NSW, as soon as I saw this scene I had to paint it to feel that expanse opening up in my heart as memories of my home came rushing back. A big sky over the flat plains on the edge of the outback.

Based on Coochiemudlo island, a smaller island situated approximately one kilometer off the coast of South East Queensland,Millie Simic is innately influenced by an abundance of flora and wildlife that inhabit her locality.Unbound to a sole medium or creative methodology, her depictions align with the subject's intrinsic elements and resonance. Possessing a BA in Fine Arts from Charles Sturt University and a MA specialisisng in Art Therapy from UQ, she was raised in a home completely void of art, resulting in the absence of any pre-exising artistic conditioning or restraint.

Initially responding to the interaction of light on organic imagery, Millie's primary decisions concerning her work's form are typically derived from her experiential wonderment and internal perceptions of the subject. Millie utilises soft pastels, Acrylic, watercolour and oils in her work and frequently alternates between impressionistic and abstract constructs.
