I was born and raised in Melbourne, a place I love and currently live after spreading my wings for a few years in my late teens and early twenties. I love to travel and feel lucky to have seen many corners of the globe over my lifetime. Much of my work is inspired by the places I’ve visited and experiences I’ve had along the way. As an artist, I am self taught. My beginnings were with charcoal and pencil. Later, as I moved towards painting I explored firstly with water color, then acrylic and later to oil. I love them all but tend to work mostly often with oil. More recently I have fallen in love with soft pastel which I find has some characteristics of working with oil paints but is uniquely vibrant in its expression.
I lean towards realism whether it be in portraiture or landscape. A soft, gentle color palette tends to be more common in my work but this is ever evolving and I am careful not to get caught up in trying to find “my style” but instead allow it to find me. I keep an open mind, listen to my intuition and paint what I feel connected to.
I take what I learn from one painting into the next and continually find something new in each. What is ahead is truly exciting and I hope what I discover connects with others along the way.
