Based in Melbourne, Marina draws inspiration from nature during walks and drives in the countryside, from her garden, and from her background in horticulture.
She works intuitively and often her work has been grounded in a particular scene or still life set up, but more recently she has has been drawn to greater abstraction and a bolder use of colour.
Her technique involves layering synthetic polymer paint with a variety of other media including hand painted papers and fabric, leather and thread. This method creates a rich tapestry of pattern, colour and texture which imparts a greater depth to her work.
In New Zealand Marina was for some years a specialist art teacher for school children, and was a member of the Howick Art Society in Auckland. She has exhibited at art shows throughout New Zealand, including Artworks Auckland, and was selected for the Molly Morpeth Canaday Art Award in New Zealand.
Currently Marina is a member of the Creativity Cluster group of artists exhibiting in and around Melbourne.
