Louise is basically a self-taught artist with Artist mentoring over formal Art education. Louise’s interest in art commenced as a young girl growing up in Gippsland, Victoria influenced by her father, who painted in ‘Oils’. Louise's father gave her, her first set of oils around the age of eleven.
Over Louise's teenage years, including art at high school and later as a young adult undertaking a Graphic Design Course by correspondence, Louise explored art along with sketching. However, marriage and raising children and working full-time became the primary focus whereby any spare time for art, was the occasional luxury.
As time passed, Louise reflected on the years gone and the realisation and her lack of effort to pursue her love for art around other commitments. This reflection was the turning point whereby Louise made time to paint on weekends, attended night classes at 'Artability Art School' under the tutorage of Ann Ham for 4 years and attended Artist' workshops, which she continues to enjoy. Louise's knowledge and skills quickly developed while she experimented with many mediums such as Acrylic, Mixed Media, Watercolours and Pastel. Louise believes, 'we continue to learn as an Artist on a daily basis' and loves the challenge of stepping outside her comfort zone.
Louise’s range of art is diverse however, portraits (animal or person), landscapes and seascapes tend to be favoured subjects.
In 2017, upon leaving full time employment due to her husband’s health at that time, Louise and her husband opted for a tree change by moving from the Fraser Coast region to the small community town of Kilkivan in Queensland, where Louise enjoys being able pursue her love for painting full-time. Her preferred mediums being Pastel and Acrylic.
Louise is a member of the Pastel Society of Australia and a member (Friend of the Gallery) of the Wondai Art Gallery, Queensland and was a former member of the Hervey Bay Art Sociey Inc.
Louise has exhibited with other artists at the Fraser Coast Regional Gallery and Sandy Street Gallery in Hervey Bay and Maryborough Art Society and Gatakers in Maryborough.
Louise has her first solo Art Exhibition in Gallery 3 at the Wondai Art Gallery in July 2019.
Louise hopes you enjoy her paintings and if you would prefer something more personal, she is available for any commission work.
