Born With A Sulphur Spoon

Description : I was born in a small copper mining community on the west coast of lutruwita/Tasmania, in the year that they shut down the last of the furnaces, which had allowed sulphur to contaminate the soil and water of Queenstown in the valley below.

The making of this work was inspired by historian Geoffrey Blainey, ‘Sulphur, rain and fire swiftly painted a new landscape.’ (Blainey 1993).

PRACTICE

Painting in and of isolated places. Growing up on the west coast of lutruwita/Tasmania in a small copper mining community, I often using copper as an expressive medium.

I also enjoy experimenting with other forms of contemporary art, including printmaking, drawing, sound, and video, believing that art can be a powerful communication tool.
