Tell your friends about Nahla

Description : A love of African wildlife has led me to explore the different animals, trying to capture their personalities. I hope by showcasing them, I can draw attention to the plight faced by many of them . This is one such example. Meet Nahla, Swahili for Queen - with her golden coat, she is every inch the Queen her name implies. Nahla was created in Watercolour, with metallic gold watercolour used on her coat, and is on 300 gsm paper. She was inspired by a photo from Ahmad Omari

Born in the UK, I am a self-taught artist living in Australia.

I began painting at the start of Covid, having a passion for arts and crafts.

Completing a City and Guilds Textiles Course, I emigrated to Sydney in 1986 - there I discovered ceramics. In 1995 my work was exhibited and sold at the Sydney Art Show, as well as in a Sydney city centre store.

Injury forced a change to resin art. I successfully sold several pieces before discovering and falling in love with watercolour.

I completed 13 online certificated art courses .

My work evolved from loose flowing to more detailed work, pet portraits, commissions, alcohol ink, charcoal and pastels.

A keen bushwalker and kayaker, I draw inspiration from Australian flora and fauna, wildlife around the world, and interesting landscapes. Colour is a source of joy and motivation to me.

My paintings have been accepted into art shows, art competitions and awards. I have also been a featured guest artist on an art website, and my artworks hang in many private homes. Commissions are welcomed.

My website launched in 2020 and I am on Instagram

My aim is to bring affordable, original art within reach of the average Australian family, and to encourage children to experience the joy to be found in creativity. See more of my artworks at
