Tell your friends about 2020

Description : The year we will never forget. This painting represents all the emotional challenges of 2020. I’ve include cells in this piece, as an under layer, representing life hidden away in 2020. The dark textured layers stand for all the turmoil, and the drips represent the emotional release when things started to get better. The copper under layer is for the closure of businesses while the copper leaf marks the strong stand of necessary facilities. This is a piece of remembrance. High quality artist acrylic paint, copper leaf, highly textured, additionally primed in studio with quality gesso and finished in a gloss varnish. Please note all images are taken before the varnish (to reduce reflection). The artwork is then finished in two coats of a satin varnish for protection.

I am blessed to live and paint in this beautiful country.
Ever since I could hold a paint brush I've had a passion for art. Painting abstract art that express emotions, adversities and experiences that humanity endures or celebrates is something that deeply nourishes my soul.

After years of life challenges I have now been able to dedicate myself full time to my creative calling.
My art is usually large abstract pieces filled with lots of texture, sgraffito and mark making using only the best artist quality acrylic and oil paints and pastels on stretched canvas, which I additionally prime in my studio using only high quality gesso.

I title my artwork to reflect what inspired me when creating each painting. I hope that my artwork invokes the viewer's individual emotions and induces further exploration and personal interpretation.

Everyday, before I enter my studio, I revisit my favourite inspirational quote by renown artist Helen Frankenthaler, which helps me leave any limitations at the door...
“There are no rules. That is how art is born, how breakthroughs happen. Go against the rules or ignore the rules. This is what invention is about”
