My journey into the world of art started in my childhood with simple pencil drawings. No doubt my mother's love of art rubbed off onto me as my mother was an artist and for a time, a student of John Dollery. She exhibited and sold a number of works in 1980's and for a while she taught, I suspect all this activity fired my own interest.
I have been painting on and off since then. I started out with Oils, learning from my mother who taught me the basics. In 1995 I decided to try my hand at pastels and after a while was doing works on commission as well as projects for myself. In 2007 I took up Oils again I had to re learn many of my skills. I am really enjoying the medium and find I prefer it to others I have tried.
I love telling a story through my art and have done a variety of works including portraits, landscapes, seascapes, many animals and birds and even the odd train. I received a highly commended from the Mentone & Mordialloc Art Society for one my recent works which you can view on my website at www.jeninebell.com.au.
Although my passion is for oil painting of wildlife and I have recently commenced the process of learning scratchboard and have had some surprising good results.
I am a member of the Wildlife Art Society of Australasia - acting as Treasurer. I attend weekly classes at the Glen Eira Cheltenham Art Group to improve my skills as its an ongoing learning process. I teach beginners oil painting and I am available to take commissions.
