Reading Between The Lines - Diptych

Description : My artwork, “Reading between the lines”, importantly depicts the contrast in this world including individuals within it. It portrays one of the wealthiest and most influential persons, in stark contrast to a poverty stricken orphan from Kenya. My work is composed of not only a drawn image but that which is written concerning the areas of duality. Drawn in soft lead pencil, I have chosen to use small hand written text for shading to this artwork as Rupert Murdoch, one of the largest global media barons in the world today, has amassed a veritable fortune out of the written word while millions of poverty stricken people remain largely illiterate. The contrast of this work deals with many considerations of extremes including, wealth/poverty, influence/obscurity, education/ignorance, complexity/simplicity, all opposite sides of a scale, so much so, it is an incredible difference!
