Janet Demond was born in Eastern Canada where she lived (apart from one glorious year in Switzerland) until 1995 when she immigrated with her husband, Allan, and their 3 daughters to Melbourne, Australia.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Art from Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada, and painted for 12 years under the tutelage and expert advice of Melbourne teacher and artist Peter Humphries.
She has attended various life-drawing and portrait classes and has studied with Terrianne Murray, Regina Hona, and Wendy-Jane Sheppard.
She is a member of the Ringwood Art Society.
I am a realist artist working in oil, pastel and more recently colored pencil. I enjoy painting a wide variety of subjects and aim through my art to help others see a beauty in people, places and things that might otherwise go unnoticed.
I also explore and paint ideas that help me think more deeply about how to live life well.
For me, the creative process is a holy mystery and the making of art a spiritual endeavour from which I derive great joy and satisfaction and through which I seek to honour the Master Artist.
