View From My Bedroom (framed)

Description : Aptly named, I see enormous gum trees from my bedroom window. It's a beautiful and tranquil sight when I wake each morning, and is bound to help you relax as you gaze into the scene from your own home.

I wanted to capture the fragility of our Aussie landscape, and so painted the leaves with a light touch, in muted colours, highlighted in yellow-green or pink. The trunk and branches have been painted with a palette knife and many layers of paint, to portray the layers of bark on the yellow box and grey box gum trees on our property in rural Victoria.

Only the highest quality materials are used.

I was born into a highly creative family where live music, book signings and art exhibitions seemed to be a normal part of a child’s everyday life and upbringing. It was only natural that I eventually pick up the palette knife and put pigment to canvas. Today, I live entirely off-grid in a quirky house and garden, with my hubby and two dogs, on rambling acreage of bush, dust and stone. My days are spent at my art studio among gum trees, kookaburras, wallabies, and koalas (and the odd snake!).

You will rarely see me paint a landscape in the traditional sense. Instead, I prefer to get up close and personal with my subject, study its form and colour, its character and its flaws, and translate this impression into something new: cropped, colourful, suggestive, and alive.

So please, sit back, browse through my portfolio, and maybe one of my paintings will find its new home.
