Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) - Painted Landscape Series

Description : THE INPIRATION
Kata Tjuta is amazing at dawn and dusk - the colours on the rocks are a gorgeous blend of glowing reds, oranges and purples.
I visited this magical place in 2011 and luckily took loads of photos which I can now refer to, to jog my memory for painting. I long to return so I can paint this scene "live".

This semi-abstract -semi-realism Australian landscape is colourful, full of texture, and has many layers of oil paint. It is bright yet somehow moody, with dark tones providing balance against sunlit rocks, grass and trees.
The sides are painted white and the painting is ready to hang, with felt pads and quality picture wire. If you would like the sides painted a different colour, please let me know (for example, pale grey or coral would look beautiful as well).
It has been painted on high quality gallery-standard canvas, using a very limited palette.

I am a prolific artist working full time from my studio in central Victoria, with much of my art being held in private collections around Australia, as well as exhibiting in local galleries and at the Victorian Artists Society in Melbourne.

KATA TJUTA - original oil painting by EVE SELLARS - part of my "Painted Landscape" series which is offered at a special price, and is available for sale on Gallery247.

Like something similar in a different size? I am happy to discuss commission requests.

I was born into a highly creative family where live music, book signings and art exhibitions seemed to be a normal part of a child’s everyday life and upbringing. It was only natural that I eventually pick up the palette knife and put pigment to canvas. Today, I live entirely off-grid in a quirky house and garden, with my hubby and two dogs, on rambling acreage of bush, dust and stone. My days are spent at my art studio among gum trees, kookaburras, wallabies, and koalas (and the odd snake!).

You will rarely see me paint a landscape in the traditional sense. Instead, I prefer to get up close and personal with my subject, study its form and colour, its character and its flaws, and translate this impression into something new: cropped, colourful, suggestive, and alive.

So please, sit back, browse through my portfolio, and maybe one of my paintings will find its new home.
