Greener Pasture

We Australians know all too well the pain and torment our poor country has endured in recent months, but there have been good times too.
Just as our water tanks were starting to run dry, dark clouds laden with precious rain loomed over our land and gave us a well-needed drenching. A week or two later, I can see the grass has returned, particularly in the fields in the valley on the other side of the highway from us – and I smile when I hear the birds squawking and chirping in the trees around us.

Luscious thick brushstrokes and generosity of high-quality pigment are used to create depth, texture and atmosphere to this artwork featuring paddocks, rows of trees, a farm house, mountain ranges and a gorgeous stormy sky and clouds.
The sides are painted titanium white. If you’d like this changed to another colour (eg pale grey, pale blue), please let me know.

• Professional artist oil paint
• High quality 15oz canvas stretched and double stapled over stretcher bars
• Picture wire on D-rings, and felt pads in bottom corners to provide airflow behind the art and to protect your wall.
• A floating Tasmanian oak frame can be fitted for an additional $100. Please let me know if you are interested and please allow 2 – 3 weeks for framing.

I was born into a highly creative family of musicians, authors and painters, and learned from a young age how to observe and appreciate nature and my environment. So, as an adult, there is no surprise I have embraced art as my full time career and passion. Working almost exclusively in oil paint, my art is heavily influenced by the indigenous landscape, particularly of the Northern Territory where I lived intermittently in 2011 and 2012, and my home in central Victoria where I live entirely off-grid on rambling bushland acreage. Drawing on the talent of Australia's wonderful plein air artists, I prefer to complete a painting in a single sitting in order to capture the light and movement of the subject at hand, yielding a free, loose style, and using a limited palette of colours. My art has been described by my peers as ‘semi-abstract semi-realism’ and demonstrates my immense (and sometimes obsessive) love for nature.

I was born into a highly creative family where live music, book signings and art exhibitions seemed to be a normal part of a child’s everyday life and upbringing. It was only natural that I eventually pick up the palette knife and put pigment to canvas. Today, I live entirely off-grid in a quirky house and garden, with my hubby and two dogs, on rambling acreage of bush, dust and stone. My days are spent at my art studio among gum trees, kookaburras, wallabies, and koalas (and the odd snake!).

You will rarely see me paint a landscape in the traditional sense. Instead, I prefer to get up close and personal with my subject, study its form and colour, its character and its flaws, and translate this impression into something new: cropped, colourful, suggestive, and alive.

So please, sit back, browse through my portfolio, and maybe one of my paintings will find its new home.
