Glen Helen Gorge - Painted Landscape Series

Description : Glen Helen Gorge in West Macdonnell Ranges in Northern Territory is immense in size, and immense in beauty. I visited this magical place in 2011 and again in 2012. It is an ancient, stunning location. I have painted this scene based on a photo I took while on a helicopter ride in 2012 - a thrilling experience which connected me to this beautiful countryside. The viewer's eye first notices the trees and rust-stained earth in the foreground, before sweeping up and around the river, before settling on those incredible cliffs. This Australian landscape is painted in oil paint on a gallery-standard canvas, using a limited palette. Sides are painted as wrap around to draw you into the painting. I am a prolific artist working full time from my studio in central Victoria, with much of my art being held in private collections around Australia, as well as exhibiting in local galleries and at the Victorian Artists Society in Melbourne. All of my paintings are packed with the greatest care. PAINTED LANDSCAPE 2 - original oil painting by EVE SELLARS - part of my "Painted Landscape" series which is offered at a special price, and is available for sale on Gallery247 online gallery. Best, Eve x

I was born into a highly creative family where live music, book signings and art exhibitions seemed to be a normal part of a child’s everyday life and upbringing. It was only natural that I eventually pick up the palette knife and put pigment to canvas. Today, I live entirely off-grid in a quirky house and garden, with my hubby and two dogs, on rambling acreage of bush, dust and stone. My days are spent at my art studio among gum trees, kookaburras, wallabies, and koalas (and the odd snake!).

You will rarely see me paint a landscape in the traditional sense. Instead, I prefer to get up close and personal with my subject, study its form and colour, its character and its flaws, and translate this impression into something new: cropped, colourful, suggestive, and alive.

So please, sit back, browse through my portfolio, and maybe one of my paintings will find its new home.
