Larapinta (finke River) Northern Territory - Painted Landscape Series

Description : The Macdonnell Ranges are the main source of water for the Finke River which is the oldest river in the world. It rarely flows - usually it consists of a few waterholes and is often completely dry. This is truly a sunburned country. We spent some time on the Finke a few years ago - right before rain; and it is amazing to watch the water trickle and eventually become a stream. This semi-abstract-semi-realism Australian landscape is a colourful rendition of the land around the Finke, with the Ranges stretching vast across the horizon. Mineral-rich earth yields the most beautiful colours while tall sparse gum trees are the perfect contrast. The sides of this painting are painted white, and it is ready to hang, with felt pads and quality picture wire. If you would like the sides painted a different colour, please let me know (for example, pale grey, pale pink, aqua, or coral would look beautiful as well). It has been painted on high quality gallery-standard canvas, using a very limited palette (cad red, cobalt blue, cerulean blue, burnt umber, lemon, yellow ochre and white). I am a prolific artist working full time from my studio in central Victoria, with much of my art being held in private collections around Australia, as well as exhibiting in local galleries and at the Victorian Artists Society in Melbourne. All of my paintings are packed with the greatest care. LARAPINTA (FINKE RIVER) - original oil painting by EVE SELLARS - part of my "Painted Landscape" series which is offered at a special price, and is available for sale on Gallery 247. I was born into a highly creative family where live music, book signings and art exhibitions seemed to be a normal part of a child’s everyday life and upbringing. It was only natural that I eventually pick up the palette knife and put pigment to canvas. Today, I live entirely off-grid in a quirky house and garden, with my hubby and two dogs, on rambling acreage of bush, dust and stone. My days are spent at my art studio among gum trees, kookaburras, wallabies, and koalas (and the odd snake!).

You will rarely see me paint a landscape in the traditional sense. Instead, I prefer to get up close and personal with my subject, study its form and colour, its character and its flaws, and translate this impression into something new: cropped, colourful, suggestive, and alive.

So please, sit back, browse through my portfolio, and maybe one of my paintings will find its new home.
