Brand New Day

Description : I have painted Brand New Day for warm happy vibes this summer and a gorgeous lick of colour for your wall.

I used only the "Zorn palette" - a gorgeous mix of yellow ochre (sand colour), red, black and white. Its beauty lies in its simplicity and purity. This palette was devised by artist Anders Zorn, and it is very popular among portrait artists. I have used it today to depict gum leaves, gum nuts and eucalyptus flowers, in the Australian climate. I have also applied paint with a light hand - creating a certain translucence to the scene. From afar, one might be forgiven for believing this is painted in water colour. However, up close, brush strokes are clearly visible.

This painting has been painted as wrap around, so the silhouette of the leaves curve around every edge of the canvas.

I am a prolific artist working full time from my studio in central Victoria, with much of my art being held in private collections around Australia, as well as exhibiting in local galleries, restaurants, and at the Victorian Artists Society in Melbourne.

All of my paintings are packed with the greatest care and a painting this size will be delivered using Australia Post, in a sturdy double-wall cardboard box.

BRAND NEW DAY - original art by EVE SELLARS - with va-voom, energy and peace all combined into a pretty little package.

Like something similar in a different size? I am happy to discuss commission requests.

Best, Eve x

I was born into a highly creative family where live music, book signings and art exhibitions seemed to be a normal part of a child’s everyday life and upbringing. It was only natural that I eventually pick up the palette knife and put pigment to canvas. Today, I live entirely off-grid in a quirky house and garden, with my hubby and two dogs, on rambling acreage of bush, dust and stone. My days are spent at my art studio among gum trees, kookaburras, wallabies, and koalas (and the odd snake!).

You will rarely see me paint a landscape in the traditional sense. Instead, I prefer to get up close and personal with my subject, study its form and colour, its character and its flaws, and translate this impression into something new: cropped, colourful, suggestive, and alive.

So please, sit back, browse through my portfolio, and maybe one of my paintings will find its new home.
