At secondary school I studied art up to year 12 level, after which I did life drawing at CAE and oil painting classes in Essendon under Paul McDonald Smith. Then after raising a family, I returned in 2007 to classes at Whitehorse Arts Association. I took classes for 7 years under Alan Close learning a broad range of techniques, mediums and subject matter. This also included one year of portraiture and life drawing classes. Whilst still at Whitehorse Arts Association, in 2009 I also started classes in watercolour with Malcolm Beattie at Peninsula Art Society. In 2010 I then began Malcolm's tonal oil class at his studio in Camberwell, where I was taught the traditional tonal method only using black and white, and after 12 months progressing to colour. I continued in this class for 7 years. I feel lucky to have had such talented and knowledgeable teachers and am still striving to reach their standards! I am a full member of the Australian Guild of Realist Artists (AGRA), the Melbourne Society of Women Painters and Sculptors, Whitehorse Arts Association and the Victorian Artists Society I like to paint everyday subjects, often with figures and I always consider light and tone.
