Artist Bio: Sheila Daniells |
|
ARTISTIC PROFILE Sheila Daniells was born in Swindon, Wiltshire in England before she moved to Australia in 1969 with her Husband and three young children. It wasn’t long before she had a fourth child on the way and to make ends meet she had to also work to help support her young family. Sheila has always been a hard worker taking on a variety of different occupations, one of them being working for the Payton pattern testing company where she would knit many of the merchandise they produced, this later took Sheila into costume design at her daughters dance studio where she developed and designed many costumes and became the head seamstress. Sheila has always had a passion for the arts but due to her family commitments and work as a costume designer has only had the chance to unveil her true talents over the last decade. Sheila has also for many years volunteered at the Dandenong Eisteddfod of Dance. Sheila has experience with mixed mediums such as pencil, pastels, oils, and water colour but her forte’ is scratchboard. After studying with world renowned artist and teacher Janet Matthews, then Portraiture with Elly Abrat and completing a workshop with inspiring artist and tutor Agatha Lelek, Sheila gained confidence to use all that she has been taught and adapt her knowledge to create the most wonderfully detailed pieces of artworks. Although Sheila has come into the art world a little later in life, she has gone from strength to strength in developing and refining her techniques and really works on bringing to life and capturing the true spirit within the animals and endangered species that she loves to create. Sheila has participated in many art shows and exhibitions including the Fleetwood art show, Bunjil place,Endeavour Hills Library and Secan at Akoonah Park just to name a few, she has received many awards over the years and is a highly valued member of the Secan Contemporary Society and the society of scratchboard artists (ISSA). |
