Yi Ling has been living in the city of Melbourne for almost 25 years. She developed a passion for art at a very young age. During her teenage years, she had the opportunity to study drawing, watercolor and acrylic both through a private teacher and academically.

She graduated with a Diploma of Decorative Drawing from the Shanghai Light Industry College. She also worked and created images for the environment newspaper in Shanghai.

After migrating to Australia, she worked as a sewing machinist, photography printer and drawing teacher for young students.

She graduated with a Diploma in Arts Design (Graphic) at Swinburne University of Technology and graduated with a Degree in Contemporary Visual Arts at Deakin University.

About 14 years ago, she started learning oil colour painting. She is fascinated by the richness of color that can be developed through using this medium and is striving to become a good artist. 

As she describes:

I intend to create paintings with joy, beauty and imagination. I enjoy taking original photos and using computer software such as Photoshop to create new images. Exploring new art mediums is exciting and is full of freshness. My purpose is to experiment in the use of digital art technology to manipulate photographs and create realistic art through using oil media on canvas.
