TORN PAPER ART

From humble beginnings to a work of art.  These original torn paper artworks are by South Australian artist Janet Eadie.  The technique begins with first painting the canvas background. Then a selection of fine paper is hand painted with varying colours and textures.  Each paper shape of the design is hand torn and arranged in place on the canvas background. These individual shapes are glued into place to create the overall design.  Left overnight to dry a protective varnish is then applied as a final finish.

Janet's background has been in creating original designs for giftwrap paper, greeting cards, paper serviettes and tea towels. Her Australian souvenir paper serviettes were sold in Adelaide supermarkets. She is the author of 4 books on design ideas, specializing in glass painting designs.  Janet's work has been featured on Better Homes and Gardens TV Show & their magazine. She has also taught creative art classes at South Australian Adult Eduction (WEA).
