Artist Bio: Meredith Budge

I have always loved to paint but life has often got in the way. I've worked in community development all my life and lived in Timor Leste and Zambia between 2006 and 2013, two incredible countries with lots of beauty to celebrate. Over the last 10 years, my energy has focused on working with multicultural communities in Epping and Lalor. Stunning communities that bring together so many wonderful cultural gifts to the local area. My focus has been creating beauty and fostering art in Lalor. We transformed a shabby building and laneway into a series of stunning artworks by artists like Bushra Hasan, Ildiko Kormanyos and Wurundjeri Artist, Alex Kerr along with a whole range of volunteer artists. www.lalornh.org.au And more is in development along Messmate Street in the main shopping drag in Lalor.

I painted lots when I was young and now that I am retired, I am rediscovering my love for oil painting. I particularly love oil paints as they can take on a life of their own and can lead you through the creative process to something more beautiful than you could expect.

I hope to increase my output over the coming years - focusing on capturing the particular beauty of the bush around High Camp, just north of Kilmore.
