JOHN YOUNG Born Scotland, U.K. 1934, arrived Australia in 1949 age 15. Painter of historical subjects mostly in pen and wash. Also works in Oil, Acrylic and Pastel. Graphic Designer, Artist, Illustrator and cartoonist. John ran his own graphic design business for many years with some major accounts specialising in the areas of product and technical illustration, corporate identity, packaging, catalogues and advertising material. With his background in illustration and drawing, he has built up a fine reputation over many years for portraying Australian and New Zealand historical subjects, mainly in pen and wash and has exhibited in galleries in Australia and New Zealand. Joined the Australian Guild of Realist Artists in 1974. John also works as an illustrator and cartoonist and has produced work for the Sydney Bridge-Climb and both the Milford and Routeburn Track walks in New Zealand. Works mostly on commission but has had occasional one-man shows in Melbourne. Represented: Wollongong City Gallery; Hinton Collection of New England Regional Gallery and many corporate institutional and private collections in Australia and overseas.
