Artist Bio: Gillian Haig

My painting, drawings and prints represent a blend of realism and abstraction. It’s about what catches my eye, what’s in my garden and the things that surround me . As l live on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula that has included local produce and a playful representation of local landscape.There is a pinch of nostalgia often flowing through my work to do with past, present and future. , what was, what is,what could be .

l don’t stray far from home so lm always influenced by local landscape , my backyard and still life elements although I don’t have boundaries when it comes to colour.

l studied at RMIT in Melbourne from 1976 to 1980 completing a Fine Arts degree in Painting and a Post Graduate In Fine Art.

l won a Travelling Scholarship in 1980 from RMIT and travelled through Europe for six months.

l completed a Diploma Of Education at Melb State College In 1984.

i have won several awards, exhibited in many exhibitions and my work has been collected widely in Australia and overseas.
