Painting preference: portraits and figurative subjects in pastel or oils. Born of recently-arrived Dutch parents in the 1950's, family commitments curtailed early painting activities. Returning to the fold in recent years at the Peninsula Arts Society under the tutelage of respected pastellist Catherine Hamilton ignited a passion for the pastel medium, and more recently portraiture in oils with Fiona Bilbrough (Twenty Melbourne Painters). Experiencing European galleries first-hand and sketching at the famous Grande Chaumiere Art Acadamie in Paris have enhanced an appreciation of the wider context of art in society and its traditions. Works by commission and sales at art shows.
