Artist Bio: Giuseppina Graziano |
|
My name is Giuseppina Graziano, and I am an abstract painter originally from Italy, now based in Melbourne since 2010. Since a young age, I have had an interest in and admiration for verbal and non-verbal communication and a passion for foreign languages, the history of art, philosophy, and music. I believe that any form of communication to be effective requires a deeper connection among those involved in the moment. I create vibrant acrylic paintings that uplift and energize any space. Inspired by my inner world, life experiences, and nature, my work features bold colors, lines, shapes, splatters, drips, and rich textures. Painting is both a cathartic and liberating process for me, and through it, I aim to share beauty, joy, and a message—explicit or hidden, yet relatable—with viewers. Guided by music and my inner voice, I paint intuitively and spontaneously, choosing colors and tools that suit my expressive, gestural mark-making. My work is influenced by the controlled chaos of Pollock’s action paintings, Kandinsky’s geometric forms, and Boccioni’s sense of motion and dynamism. I interpret these concepts through intricate compositions built up with multiple layers of paint—sometimes removed, sometimes added—to create complex textures. The result is a visual rhythm that is harmonious and balanced, deliberately lacking a single focal point. This invites viewers to explore my paintings freely, finding their own focus and meaning within the artwork’s emotional intensity and visual richness. I have received several international awards, including Finalist Awards, Honorable Mentions, Talent Prize, and Artist of the Month Award from Art Show International (Teravarna) Gallery (Los Angeles) and Camel Back Gallery (Arizona). I have exhibited my work with Divulgarti Group (Italy) and participated in multiple group shows with MAVA, SOL Gallery, Brunswick Street Gallery, The Fitzroy Art Collective, The Camberwell Art Show, The Albert Park College Art Show (Melbourne). I have also had solo shows at Quadrant Gallery, The Ladder Art Space, Incub8r, Gallery Elysium in Melbourne. |
