Artist Bio: Lee Cummins

About Lee. Artist, Painter, Creative Guide,

I’m Lee — a mixed media visual artist and art tutor based in south-east Melbourne.

My artwork is all about joy, colour, and creative energy. I’m inspired by the sweep of local landscapes, the quiet moments in nature, and the shifting light along the bay. These influences appear in my expressive, uplifting paintings that are designed to bring warmth and happiness into your home.

Why I Paint
Painting has been part of my life since childhood, but it wasn’t until later that I realised it was more than a hobby — it was my calling.
I paint to slow down, to observe, and to capture a feeling rather than a perfect scene. My work blends spontaneity, mark-making and layers of colour to express emotion, movement and the beauty of imperfection.
Creating art is my way of connecting with the world, and I hope my paintings offer others a moment of joy, calm or inspiration.

Studio Practice
In my studio, I work intuitively with mixed media — acrylics, inks, collage and pastels — building layers of colour and texture to create expressive, uplifting pieces. My process starts loose and playful, allowing marks and shapes to guide the direction of each artwork. Whether abstract or landscape-inspired, my focus is always on capturing a feeling: joy, calm, movement or the quiet beauty of nature.

I run regular workshops, adult art classes along with free monthly paint outs.

My artwork is available as originals, and selected pieces as prints.
