Gayle Smith is a visual artist who has been practicing and exhibiting in Melbourne for over ten years.  She is best known for her landscapes of vibrant colour and dynamic energy.  Her work has developed from a technical realist background in oil painting.  She has experimented for several years with a range of materials and processess before arriving at her current practice.  Her work uses oil painting as a vehicle to explore colour and gesture with the landscape.  Gayle's practice is inspired by patterns and forms found in nature.  Her work responds to the ephemeral beauty of natural environments, expressing a subjective and romantic relationship to nature.
