Artist Bio: Isstra Bevilacqua

I was born and raised in Central Victoria and grew up in the local art scene. I have always loved creating art and have participated in community art shows through the years. I enjoy creating art because it’s a way of creating a mood in a space. I like how art can make people feel depending on the colours used and subject matter.  I enjoy creating art that brings joy, gratitude, hope and reflection.

The Botanical Gardens series is acrylic on canvas and are a collection of my favourite plants and flowers. I have always loved flowers and like that they tell stories, have meanings, foster feelings and bring joy. The flowers I have chosen for this series either remind me of a place and time or a hope for the future in the meaning they symbolize.

I use a layered process and a vast array of colours that I blend myself to create harmony in my work. I use different thicknesses of acrylic paint to create depth and texture. The frames are all handmade by my very talented husband from Tasmanian oak. I have always enjoyed creating art and have had a focus on creating pieces that complement peoples living spaces.
