Artist Bio: Murray Unkovich

I’m a photographer and curious mind working at the intersection of people and the changing world they inhabit. I am based in Gawler, South Australia. My primary photographic motivations tend to be trees, wildlife and the natural world. I also love to travel and soak up the ambience and light in little and big places. My last exhibition of recent work focussed on eucalyptus and hence the name “Well covered”. The exhibition provided an intimate look at “EU KALYPTOS”, Greek for well covered and referring to the caps which protect the developing flowers of gum trees. These little icons come in an astonishing array of shapes, colours and sizes. This personal exploration of eucalyptus also pays homage to the bark of the eucalyptus tree, an ever-changing palette, pattern and texture showcased in an extraordinary series of grand photographic canvases.
