AMBRA SANCIN Born Trieste, Italy Lives in Sydney, Australia Ambra studied fine art at the National Art School (formerly East Sydney Technical College) from 1981-1983 gaining both an Art Certificate and Post Certificate in Painting and Printmaking. She followed this up with weekend courses at the Australian Watercolour Institute as well as various adult education courses and workshops to perfect her techniques. An opportunity to work for six months at the Biennale of Sydney in 1984 led to jobs in arts administration/management at galleries, state/federal government cultural sectors and for multicultural, heritage and film festivals. Working for these all-encompassing full-time positions and freelance projects pushed her art practice to the back of the queue. For almost 30 years! With more time on her hands, she has taken up the brushes again and is enjoying re-connecting with her love of watercolour where she captures interiors and still lifes from her photographs. Ambra is a Committee Member of the Drummoyne Art Society and has shown in: Drummoyne Art Society Members' Exhibition 2024 (Highly Commended Award); Royal Art Society Exhibition 2024; Royal Easter Show Arts/Crafts Exhibitiion 2024; Tumut Art Prize; Homiens Virtual Art Exhibition; Clare Art Show (S.A.); Two Artists Pop-Up Show Gallery 57 Concord 2023; Drummoyne Open Art Awards 2023. |
