Artist Bio: Georgina Barnett |
Georgina studied Graphic Design at the South Australian School of Art from 1969 - 1973. Dusing her working career as a Graphic Designer and later web designer she "dabbled" with fine art painting and attended courses at the Central School of Art. Semi retirement in 2019 gave her more time to persue her love of painting and she exhibited work in the Loxton/Riverland Art Trail in 2018 and 2019. Her current work is influenced by the noticeable spread of urbanisation into the rural landscape and how much of the cultivated land has been turned over to redevelopment. "Through the orchard" where once fruit trees thrived has been decimated by housing alotments and Industry. "Stepping back" reflects the unearthing of treasure once buried now exposed by the influence of progress "Urban Sprawl 1 - 3" depict the progressive change in the rural landscape Georgina works primarily in Acrylic, collage and mixed media on various surfaces. |
