Artist Bio: Sharryn OBrien

I have been drawing all my life and still love it today.  After completing a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Art I found myself in computer graphics and presentation design.  I left work after I started a family and decided I was going to follow my passion for art once my children we more independent.  I got involved in the Kingston Gallery where I volunteered to get back into the art scene.  There I met Sharon Percival who had a studio space in the Kingston Arts building behind the gallery.  She invited me to work in her studio with her and that is where I decided I needed to always be painting and drawing.

Recently I have found myself producing detailed pencil drawings for clients, after I drew a picture of my Jack Russell who passed away two years ago. My friend posted the image on Facebook and I discovered I had a talent for drawing pets as requests came in and the emotional responses to my work overwhelmed me.  Not only do I draw pets, but I have also been commissioned to draw what I call memory montages.  I take a clients photographs and memories and create a single drawing using those images to tell a story of that persons life.  I have recently set up a Website (SharrynObrienArtist.com) so people can get in touch with me and hope that I can continue to draw and paint and touch peoples hearts with my artwork.
