Artist Bio - Charlotte Kandelaars
As an Melbourne born and raised artist I have been developing my style by evolving my awareness, expanding my skills and intuition for painting over the last 20 years. I want the viewer to see another dimension.
I currently prefer the medium of acrylic and have a strong connection to the bold colours and textures offered by the Australian landscape. I love painting landscapes in particularly the Northern Territory, Kimberleys, Wilsons Promontory and Tasmania. I am also fascinated with cityscapes resulting in the following series - Federation Square, Yarra Palms and City Skyline. While expanding my cityscape series of Melbourne I am now also capturing other cities in Australia including Sydney, Adelaide and Bendigo.
For the Victorian sites I enjoy exemplifying the garden state in my interpretations and expanding and stylizing the foliage as calligraphy within the cityscapes.
I am inspired and influenced by John Brack, Egon Schiele, Brett Whiteley, Anne Marie Graham and Del Kathryn Barton.
I have had 6 solo exhibitions at Volumes, a solo exhibition at Decoy and participated in numerous group exhibitions. I currently have a solo show at Kinch Fine Food in Caulfield, Melbourne which is showing till the 3rd June 2019.
My paintings have been sold to collectors in Australia, New Zealand and China. I have featured in the book publications 'Windows on Waverley' and 'Brushes with Life'.
I am active in the art community and derive much inspiration from fellow artists. The groups I belong to include the Glen Eira Artists Society, Hughesdale Art Group and the D.A.R.E Group.
