Artist Bio - Catherine Shute
My theme: 'All Things Bright and Beautiful'
Born in England several decades ago (still young at heart!) With dual Australian citizenship, I migrated here about a year ago. I'm semi-retired and now based in Grange SA, where I also brought my hobby/informal business CatviSion Art & Photography. I'm enjoying having more time to be creative, and appreciating my new surroundings, by experimenting with painting various styles of artworks, inspired by the flora & fauna of where I now live. In my business I also produce greetings cards and gifts made from my art and photography. The media I'm mostly using for my paintings is acrylics (on canvas), however, I've also painted some watercolour paintings, which are ready mounted and framed.
My interest in art and photography began in childhood, as I was fortunate to have inherited a natural keen eye and talent to be creative (my mother was also an artist). However, I've had a long gap until more recently where I now have the space and time to refresh my enjoyment of being artistic. The majority of my paintings show my particular love of bright bold colours, and zooming into the beauty that our World has to offer. As in my title, my theme is based on a favourite childhood song: 'All things bright & beautiful...' In fact the older I get, the bolder and brighter my pictures become!
I'm loving the art vibe in Adelaide, and glad that I'm spending my later years here to develop my artistic skills. I'm regularly attending local art workshops to gain more inspiration, which encourages me to keep painting with new ideas. I'm happy to take commissions based around the artwork style I currently do. One of which is 'pet' portraits, which I seem to have a knack of getting the animal and bird characters within my paintings, done usually in more abstract 'urban' colourful art form.
Also more recently I've been informally teaching on a one-to-one or in small fun art party groups, to share my art knowledge and tips with like minded people, who want to be inspired to renew or develop their creative side. It makes me happy to be able to share my love of the beauty of art in various forms, and I'm proud that I'm finally achieving this.
Thank you for taking the time to read my Bio.
